Parrotresearch.com- A Journey Into the Mind of A Talking Parrot

Victor brought much joy and laughter to our family. I have received countless emails of how funny and unique he was from people who visit his site. Just read the guest books on the download pages and you will know what I mean. He had a remarkable sense of humour. It even allowed him to start his own line of bird culture jokes. Most of his jokes were not just funny, they had double or hidden meanings in them. I spent many hours listening to his recordings and translating what he said to words. When I was finished translating I would post the words with his recording on the site. He would be listening to me as I replayed the file and translated it. When I finally caught the drift of his joke, I would laugh and he would break out and laugh with me.
He loved to make people happy and he knew he was bringing joy to their lives in doing so. Much of Victor's humor came from poking fun at Betty or making wisecracks about people. He also thought the way people farted was hilarious and made many funny remarks about that too. Some of his jokes may have been a little out of taste, but I'm sure if Victor was exposed to more of the outside world, he would have had other topics to poke fun at. When you listen to his later recordings, you will notice how he has a talent for putting humour in almost everything he says. This is not a learned ability. I believe it came from a natural trait which many birds have, and this is the first time it has been documented so clearly. He could also be sarcastic. In one of his files he talks about how birds are naturally jealous and even though they are jealous, and might disrespect one another, they still care. This was obvious in the way he treated his mate Betty. He liked to make jokes about her, but he never once hurt her, and almost always gave in to her when she wanted to play with his toys or take his spot on the food tray. Victor made so many jokes that it is hard to pick out a few of my favourites. I eventually had to start another site called "The World's Funniest Budgie" where I posted about twenty of them. This page only has a few of his better ones.
